About The Instructor

Hi! My name is Stephanie Erickson. I am the proud Mommy of 3 amazing kids, ages 6, 4, and 2. Music has been an important tradition in my family for several generations. In addition to playing and teaching on the piano, I sing and play the flute (any flute. . .traditional, Chilean, Native American. . .even one made out of PVC pipe), piccolo, electric bass, and a little tiny bit of guitar and trumpet.

In March of 2000, I had the opportunity to attend the North-West-American Choral Directors Association Conference held in Seattle, Washington as a chaperone to one of the attending choirs. In taking part during this event, I was able to learn much about relating to music students and helping them to grow and develop. I also saw and took part in various teaching techniques for students in elementary, junior high, and high school age groups. In the time following, I've been able to judge and participate in many school district music festivals both in and outside of this school district.

For the last 10 years, I've been working with different groups of 50 to 100 kids within my church as both a teacher and a music leader. I have LOVED every exhausting minute of this adventure!

I have completed several music and child development courses on a collegiate level. These include: Music History, Schools and Society, Italian and English Diction, Aral and Written Theory, Music Education, Voice, and Convocation. These and other classes included the study of several teaching methods and many observation hours within a classroom setting. From 2000 to 2003, I worked as the accompanist for the Heritage Middle School choirs here in Longmont, and very much enjoyed the time I spent teaching and learning with the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders there. Since then, I've continuously worked in a volunteer capacity at other elementary and high schools here in Longmont.

I am thrilled with a life and a schedule that allows me to put my knack for teaching together with my passion for music and offer lessons and classes to kids both in and outside of Pleasant Valley.
